After pandemic dried up NFL options, C.J. Conrad eager to help coach Kentucky football

LEXINGTON - C.J. Conrad did whatever was needed for Kentucky football on the field during his playing career. Now he’s ready to get some coffee for coach Mark Stoops in a new role.

As Stoops’ newest graduate assistant coach, Conrad knows he is now “low man on the totem pole.” That’s a big change from two years ago when he entered his senior season as one of the faces of the team and a fan favorite.

“I’m not calling him Mark,” Conrad joked during a Zoom news conference Wednesday when asked about his relationship with Stoops has changed as a member of the staff.
