ACC drops intraconference transfer rule. Is the SEC next?

This morning, the ACC Board of Directors voted unanimously to drop its intraconference transfer rule, which required student-athletes to sit out one year if they were transferring from one league school to another. Could the SEC be next?

The NCAA continues to move towards a one-time transfer rule that would allow players to be eligible immediately wherever they go; however, the SEC — like most major conferences — still restricts players from transferring from one conference school to another. Last week, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey told the Courier Journal that the intraconference rule is still in place, but could be reevaluated in the spring, especially if the NCAA’s one-time transfer rule is approved at the Division I Council’s meeting at the Final Four.
