JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – When Abilene Christian won the Southland Conference Tournament to reach the Big Dance, coach Joe Golding was so delighted he jumped to hug an assistant coach.
And when he did, his suit pants ripped.
Golding had joked that he would spend his $1,000 bonus for reaching the NCAA Tournament on a new suit before Thursday night's game against Kentucky, but he said Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Arena that he wasn't due that bonus until June 1.
Meanwhile, the "one suit place in town" was not able to do the repairs in time once his team returned to Abilene, Golding said.
