I’m not exactly sure how, when, or why it happened, but at some point in the past five years, Bill Murray went from a normal famous person to a cult icon. Murray is now a hipster messiah, his face emblazoned on t-shirts, bumper stickers, flags, and pint glasses. The New York Times’ Steven Kurutz just wrote a great article about Murray’s “Peculiar Ascent to Secular Saint,” which includes stories about the actor’s penchant for randomness, from crashing weddings, karaoke parties, kickball games, and apparently, even Elvis Presley’s funeral back in the day. Over the years, Murray’s randomness has even been documented on KSR, with the actor sporting a Lexington Legends hat in 2009 and rocking out to Kentucky native Chris Stapleton at a concert in July.
