Should Kentucky not win the SEC Tournament and make the Big Dance, what about the NIT? The NCAA just shared the details on the 2021 National Invitational Tournament, and, given the special circumstances of this season, there are some major changes.
To start, this year’s NIT will feature 16 teams (instead of 32) and be played in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex March 17-28. Specific venues for each round are still being finalized but games will be played at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas and UNT Coliseum on the campus of North Texas in Denton, Texas. All 16 teams will be selected as at-large participants and there will be no automatic qualifiers.
