Women's Golf in second place after first day of Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Kent State Women's Golf finished day one of the 14th Cardinal Cup alone in second place with a score of 9-over-par after rrounds of 293 and 292 at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

The only team ahead of the Golden Flashes on the team leaderboard is tournament and host 41st-ranked Louisville at 3-under par. Kent State, the 16th ranked team in the nation, also stands two shots ahead of No. 15 Illinois and No. 46 East Carolina.

KSU freshman Kory Nielsen will head into today's final round tied for second place individually with Virginia Tech's Amanda Hollandsworth.
