KENT: Kent State coach Todd Starkey still can’t believe how his Golden Flashes have reversed course so quickly.
The third-seeded Golden Flashes — who coaches selected to finish last in the Mid-American Conference East Division before the season started — earned a first-round bye and an automatic bid to the MAC Tournament quarterfinals at Quicken Loans Arena. Starkey is in his first season with the Flashes (19-11, 13-5 MAC), who haven’t had a winning record since 2010.
Going into Wednesday night’s game against No. 6 Toledo, Starkey said his team has less postseason experience than the Rockets (22-8, 12-6 MAC).
