Walker leads Kent State past Oregon State 79-78

KENT, Ohio -- Jaylin Walker scored 25 points, including 19 in the second half, and Kent State defeated Oregon State 79-78 on Thursday night.

Kent State (6-6), hosting a Pac-12 team for the first time in school history, snapped a three-game losing streak.

The Golden Flashes, who won the Mid-American Conference tournament last season, also hosted a regular-season game against a power conference team for the first time since 1978.

Stephen Thompson Jr. and Tres Tinkle led Oregon State (8-4) with 25 points each, but the Beavers' six-game winning streak ended.

Danny Pippen's foul shot with three seconds remaining gave Kent State a 79-75 lead before Stephen Thompson hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
