LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Jaylin Walker poured in a career-high 20 points, but it was not enough to hand No. 18 SMU its first loss of the season, as the Mustangs came away with a 90-74 victory in the semifinals of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena on Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes, which fall to 7-3 on the season, will play either Colorado or Penn State at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday in the consolation game on FS1.
Kent State showed fight and played right with an SMU team that is one of only five remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I college basketball despite being plagued by turnovers and struggles at the foul line.
