KENT, Ohio – Not since 2000 has a team gone undefeated in Mid-American Conference play and then stormed through the MAC Tournament to take both titles. The 2016 Kent State field hockey team has now claimed that feat as a dominate second half handed them a 4-0 win over Miami and the program's third-straight tournament championship.
The first half was an intense, scoreless battle where the RedHawks had a 7-5 advantage in shots but the Flashes had more shots on goal and more corner opportunities.
Whatever Head Coach Kathleen Wiler said to her team at halftime sure made a big difference.
