Thomas-Dodd Places Fourth at IAAF World Championships

LONDON – Just two months after winning a national championship in the women's shot put, former Kent State All-American Danniel Thomas-Dodd nearly medaled at the 2017 IAAF World Championships, finishing fourth in the event Wednesday evening at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

Thomas-Dodd's best mark came on her fifth attempt, as she unleashed a throw of 18.91 meters (62'-0.5") to move past Hungary's Anita Márton into third with one throw remaining. Márton, the bronze medalist at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, answered with a mark of 19.49 meters (64'-00") on her final attempt to capture silver.
