Leon Takagi garnered her first MAC golfer of the week honor this season, placing 3rd in the Evie Odom Invitational last weekend.
Takagi shot a tournament best 66 on the final day of the invite to vault her into the top five and finish at four under par (206). The sophomore went on an incredible stretch this last Sunday, sinking five out six birdies from holes 5-10.
Takagi, the lone Kent State golfer to compete in the NCAA championships a year ago, finished tied for third with 12 birdies among the 84-golfer field.
The Japanese native is the 2nd Kent State golfer to win MAC golfer of the week, with Veronika Kedronova earning the nod after winning the Dick McGuire Invitational to start the year.
