CLEVELAND - Kent State men's golfer Gisli Sveinbergsson has been named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.
Sveinbergsson led the charge for the No. 20 Golden Flashes this past weekend, with the team taking a top-3 spot in a loaded field. Kent State was 2 strokes off the overall leader and Sveinbergsson was in contention all weekend.
The junior MAC Champion started the weekend off with a 4-under par 68, the best first round in the field and one stroke off his career-best mark. Head nine birdies in the first round.
