KENT, Ohio- It was a high-scoring affair for Kent State soccer as they took down Western Michigan 5-1 Sunday afternoon inside Dix Stadium. The Flashes picked up their eighth consecutive win, improving to 8-1-0 (4-0 MAC) on the year, while the Broncos drop to 8-4-0 (2-2 MAC). Senior Jenna Hellstrom recorded career assists 28 and 29, setting a new Kent State record.
The first of Kent State's five goals came 14:11 into game on a penalty kick by senior Abbie Lawson. The penalty kick resulted from Hellstrom being taken down in the box, a foul that warranted a red card for Western Michigan's Stephanie Heber.
