BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Junior Alexander Shields captured a pair of event titles on Saturday and scored 28 points as Kent State placed second at the Mid-American Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Eastern Michigan was crowned champion with 171 points, while the Golden Flashes totaled 160. Rival Akron finished third with 128 points, giving Kent State a point in the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge standings.
Shields started the day by closing his second consecutive heptathlon title. He cleared a personal-best height of 13'-9.25" and finished with a score of 5,297.
