Untimely weather break stalls KSU momentum; Flashes chance to clinch

OXFORD, OHIO – Kent State had momentum and Joey Murray seemingly on track. Mother Nature had other ideas.

Mere minutes after the Golden Flashes tied the game at 3-3, a radar-detected lightning strike sent both teams to their dugouts for a 70-minute break. The extended time took Murray out of the game, who at that point had retired seven straight Miami hitters – six of them by strikeout. As the game resumed in the bottom of the fourth, the RedHawks took advantage of six free bases – five walks and a hit batter – to take a 6-3 lead.
