Record-Breaking Round Puts Men's Golf Ahead in Scottsdale

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University men's golf team had its best round in program history Friday, leading after round one of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona with a 20-under par 264.

The 264 score is a new school record for a round, far surpassing the previous best mark of 271. The record was originally set in 2003 and last reached at the MAC Championship in 2009.

The Golden Flashes had two golfers shoot 65 or lower in the same round for the first time in school history. That pack was led by Josh Whalen, whose 64 (-7) Friday places him first overall.
