The University of Akron women’s basketball team drilled a season-best 14 3-pointers in an 84-55 win at Northern Illinois Wednesday to snap a five-game losing streak.

The Zips (8-9, 1-5 Mid-American Conference) dominated the second half, outscoring the Huskies 51-29 as several players recorded season- and career-high marks.

Hannah Plybon (Orrville) led UA to its first conference victory of the season with a game-high 20 points. Freshmen Shaunay Edmonds and Haliegh Reinoehl each set new career-highs with 13 points. Alex Ricketts and Greta Burry added 11 apiece, and Burry pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to achieve her fifth career double-double.
