University of Akron junior Maurice Harris and freshman John Zolton finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s hammer throw to lead the Zips on the opening day of the Campbell/Wright Invitational on Friday in Akron.
Harris had a toss of 177-8 on his first attempt, while Zolton recorded a throw of 149-3 on his fifth attempt.
Gabrielle Figueroa finished in second and Rebecca Leppelmeier placed fourth in the women’s hammer throw to lead Kent State.
Figueroa threw 189-0 on her sixth attempt, and Leppelmeier had a toss of 170-0.
