Western Michigan outscored visiting Akron 27-10 over the final 10 minutes to rally for a 69-65 victory in a Mid-American Conference women’s basketball game Saturday. The Broncos (15-10, 7-6) erased a 13-point fourth quarter deficit.
DiAndra Gibson (Ravenna) and Hannah Plybon (Orrville) each scored 18 points for the Zips (12-11, 6-7). Junior Alex Ricketts had a double-double in her first career start, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Kent State women
The Golden Flashes took advantage of Ball State’s shooting woes to beat the visiting Cardinals 59-50 in a MAC matchup.
By the time the Cardinals (16-7, 8-4) had scored, Kent State was up 11 points.
