On the record: University of Akron women’s tennis team wins 19th consecutive match

With Sunday’s 4-3 win over visiting Miami University, the University of Akron women’s tennis team extended its win streak to 19. The outdoors win on campus was the first regular-season win over the RedHawks in program history.

The Zips improved to 20-2 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference. It the first time since the 2011-12 season UA has won at least 20 matches.

Softball

Freshman Lexie Handley (St. Vincent-St. Mary) threw her first career no-hitter as the Akron softball team shut out host Eastern Michigan 9-0 on Sunday. The Zips improved to 14-18 overall and 3-3 in MAC play.
