The University of Akron women’s tennis team tied a program record with its 15th consecutive victory on Friday, 4-3 over host Toledo.
Sophie Geier won the No. 1 singles match in straight sets and also teamed with Ariadna Blinova for a win in the No. 2 doubles match to lead the Zips (16-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference).
The No. 1 doubles team of Carli Knezevich and Karalina Maksimova won 6-2, and the No. 3 doubles team of Shannon Newnes and Rita Pedroso also won. Maksimova won the No. 4 singles match and Newnes won the No. 6 singles match for the Zips.
