The University of Akron volleyball team split a doubleheader on Friday at the Charm City Classic in Baltimore.
The Zips (2-3) lost 3-1 to UMBC in the first match. The Zips dropped the first set before winning in the second set to even the score. The Retrievers (3-2) then won the third (25-18) and fourth (30-28) sets to win the match.
Patience Brown and Kayla Gwozdz each had 10 kills, Karley Kusan had 42 assists and Brenna Mack had 10 digs to lead the Zips in the first game.
The Zips swept Delaware 3-0 in the second match.
