The University of Akron softball team dropped the opener 3-0 before exploding for a 10-1 victory to earn a split in a Mid-American Conference doubleheader Saturday at Eastern Michigan.
The Zips (13-18, 2-3) managed just four hits off starter Nicolle Miranda in the first game.
In the second game, the Zips cracked 13 hits, six of them for extra bases, to pull away from the Eagles (13-16, 2-3).
Sophomore Kelly Hysong smacked two home runs and a double, driving in six runs. Hysong is the first Zip to hit multiple home runs in one game since 2012.
