University of Akron sophomore Danielle Nicholson fired an even-par 72 in the final round Sunday to win medalist honors at the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona.
The win was the second of the season for Nicholson, who led the Zips to an 11th-place finish in the 19-team field. Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois finished first and second, respectively.
Nicholson entered the final round in second place and down two strokes. She carded three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars to rally for the victory.
