The University of Akron softball team evened its Mid-American Conference record with a 3-2 triumph over host Buffalo on Wednesday.
Sophomore Laura Lakins delivered a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Taylor Kirian in the seventh, to lift the Zips (17-21, 6-6).
UA got its two other runs when senior left fielder Savannah Fruin smashed a two-run home run to center field. The homer moved Fruin into a second-place tie on Akron’s all-time career list.
