Junior Clayton Murphy won the 800 meters to lead the University of Akron track and field team in the second day of the Texas Relays on Friday.
Murphy crossed the line with a time of 1:47.38, the fourth-fastest time in the nation this spring.
Junior Natalie Zidd placed second in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:07.60 to lead the UA women. Zidd’s time is the third-best in program history and the eighth-fastest time this spring.
Sophomore Jackie Siefring finished in eighth place in the women’s heptathlon, the second-best in UA history. Junior Quentin Cieslinski finished fifth in the men’s decathlon, sparked by a career-long throw and second-place finish in the javelin.
