On the record: UA’s Adam Najem named MAC Player of the Year in men’s soccer

Akron’s Adam Najem was named MAC Player of the Year for men’s soccer, the league announced Thursday.

Pau Belana and Brad Ruhaak (Copley) were also selected first-team All-MAC, as a league-best eight Zips earned All-MAC accolades. UA’s Jonathan Lewis was named Freshman of the Year, and was joined on the second team by Zips teammates Sam Gainford, Nick Hinds, Stuart Holthusen and Ben Lundt.

Najem is only the third UA player to earn first-team All-MAC honors in each of his four seasons.

Volleyball

Three consecutive kills, all assisted by Stephanie Olman, helped Ohio win the fourth set 29-27 and take a Mid-American Conference volleyball match 3-1 at Kent State Thursday night.
