On the record: UA women’s basketball team wins fourth consecutive game

The University of Akron women’s basketball team evened its record at 4-4 with its fourth consecutive victory, 85-74 over host Valparaiso (1-7) Wednesday night.

Anita Brown scored a game-high 27 points to lead four Zips in double figures. Brown, who is shooting 45 percent from the field, finished 10-for-21 from the floor and converted 7-of-9 free throws.

Starters Gretta Burry and Hannah Plybon (Orrville) added 16 and 14 points, respectively. Alli Ball came off the Akron bench to contribute 10 points.

College of Wooster women’s basketball

Lauren Hancher scored a game-high 20 points and moved into fifth place on the College of Wooster’s all-time scoring list while leading the Scots to a 52-50 win at Oberlin (5-5, 0-2).
