Ana Rita Pedroso has committed to play tennis next fall for the University of Akron. Pedroso, a native of Portugal, won a championship at the U18 National Team Championship in 2014 and 2015. In January 2015, she became the No. 1 ranked player in the U18 national standings.
“I am excited to have Rita join our family,” UA coach Brandon Padgett said in a news release. “I am confident that she will contribute to the team immediately, and that she will be and excellent addition.”
Of the nine student-athletes on the UA tennis team, seven of them are international.
