The University of Akron softball has now won three consecutive games, taking two Saturday in the Alabama State Tournament. The Zips used 20 combined hits and strong pitching to beat Gardner-Webb 5-1 in the first game and down host Alabama State 6-5 in extra innings.
Erin Seiler pitched a complete game in the first game and won by giving up only a solo home run while striking out 12. She came on in relief in the second game to earn the win and even her record at 5-5.
Against Alabama State, UA tied the game with a 2-run seventh inning and won it in the eighth on Gabrielle Fredericks’ RBI single to right.
