On the record: UA, KSU athletes shine on first day at All-Ohio Outdoor Championships

The University of Akron and the Kent State University men’s and women’s track and field teams had standout performances Friday on the first day of the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships in Athens.

Alex McCune won the men’s javelin with a throw of 203-6 and Ian Behm finished second with a throw of 201-3 to lead the Zips in Friday’s field events. The Zips earned another first-place finish with Dan Zupan’s win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

UA’s Kamar Majid (Firestone) is in second place in the men’s decathlon with a score of 3,349 after five events, and Kent’s Ryan Looser (Wadsworth) is in third place with a score of 3,349.
