Three University of Akron football assistants were promoted by coach Terry Bowden on Thursday.
Brett Ekkens was promoted from graduate assistant to offensive line coach.
Also, defensive line coach Todd Stroud was promoted to assistant head coach and Matt Gildersleeve was promoted to director of football strength and conditioning.
