The University of Akron men’s cross country team earned a pair of awards on Wednesday when the All-Ohio Cross Country Awards were released.
Coach Lee LaBadie was named Division I cross country coach of the year, and freshman Joe Rossetti (St. Vincent-St. Mary) was named MAC freshman of the year.
LaBadie led the Zips to a program-best seventh-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional, and also led the Zips to a runner-up finish at the MAC championship.
Rossetti finished in 16th place in his first MAC Championship race and also finished in fourth place at the Tommy Evans Invitational.
