University of Akron junior Jackie Siefring and senior Nikki Manson both earned fifth-place finishes in their respective events at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday afternoon.
By placing in the top eight, both Zips earned first-team All-America honors.
Siefring was fifth in the women’s heptathlon with 5,663 points. After Friday’s events, Siefring was in eighth place with three events remaining.
The junior improved from a 12th-place finish last year when she scored 5,626 points and was named to the All-America second team.
Siefring’s performance was highlighted by a season-best time of 13.
