Top-seeded Kent State defeated No. 4 Ball State 2-1 on Friday in Kent in a Mid-American Conference field hockey tournament semifinal to advance to the MAC tournament final.
The Golden Flashes (13-6) will host No. 2 Miami at 2 p.m. Saturday for the tournament title in a rematch of last year’s final, which was won 3-2 by the Flashes in double overtime.
Madison Thompson scored off a deflection in the 15th minute to give the Flashes a 1-0 lead and Alison Harmatz scored off Shannon Talbot’s assist in the 30th minute to give the Flashes a 2-0 halftime lead.
