On the record: Todd Starkey named women’s basketball coach at Kent State

Todd Starkey has been named the new women’s basketball coach at Kent State.

Starkey, who was introduced at a news conference on Wednesday, replaces Danielle O’Bannion, who was not renewed after the 2015-16 season.

Starkey is the sixth coach in program history.

He was an assistant at Indiana University for the past two years. Prior to being an assistant coach at Indiana, Starkey was the head coach at Lenoir-Ryne University in Hickory, North Carolina. In 10 seasons, he went 165-95 at the Division II school.

“This is a dream come true,” Starkey said in a news release.
