On the record: Ten Zips football players, 12 Golden Flashes earn academic honors

Senior kicker Robert Stein and senior quarterback Kyle Pohl were among 10 University of Akron football players to receive Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors for the 2015 season.

Stein, a four-time honoree, and Pohl, a three-time honoree, lead the honoree list, which also includes seniors Dylan Brumbaugh (Green), Dylan Evans, Darryl Monroe and John Senter.

Junior Richard Dorilus, sophomores Zach Guiser and Anthony Young and freshman Kyle Ritz round out the list for the Zips.

The Zips (7-5, 5-3 MAC) will play Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise on Dec. 22.

Kent State had 12 players honored, including local products George Bollas (Aurora), Luke Grandjean (North Canton Hoover), Jordan Italiano (Canfield), and Matt Sommers (Kent Roosevelt).
