Larissa Lurken had a record-setting day, but Kent State dropped a 79-73 decision in overtime to Western Kentucky at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.
Lurken’s scored 39 points, which was a career high and the most in tournament history. She scored the fourth-most points in Kent State history and connected on 22-of-25 free throws. Her foul shooting set KSU single-game records.
Western Kentucky (3-2) outscored Kent 28-20 in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime tied at 67-67. The Golden Flashes (2-4) only scored six points in the extra period, including a 3-pointer by Lurkens.
