On the record: Ohio State’s Nathan Tomasello advances to quarterfinals at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Ohio State junior Nathan Tomasello, the top seed at 133 pounds, defeated North Dakota State’s Cam Sykora with a 19-2 major decision in the second round of the NCAA Wrestling Championships on Thursday in St. Louis.

Tomasello (CVCA), who defeated Edinboro’s Korbin Myers 13-4 in the first round, was to meet Zane Richards from Illinois in the quarterfinals on Friday morning.

Kent State’s Anthony Tutolo (133) and Casey Sparkman (157) were both defeated in the first round.

Tomasello won the national championship at 125 pounds as a freshman and was third as a sophomore before moving up to 133 pounds this season.
