Medina standout Jessica Holzman has committed to continue her softball career at the University of Akron, Zips coach Julie Jones announced Wednesday.
“We are thrilled to add Jessie to our 2016 class,” Jones said in a release. “She is a great athlete with power and speed and will fit well into our style of play. We look forward to watching her grow into a great college softball player.”
A four-year letterwinner for the Bees, Holzman plans to major in exercise science.

University of Akron standouts senior Claudia Garcia Jou, junior Clayton Murphy and sophomore Terrell McClain all were named Mid-American Conference track and field athletes of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.
