Kent State split a doubleheader with visiting Youngstown State Wednesday, winning the nightcap 3-2 after dropping the opener 7-6.
The Penguins (24-18) won Game 1 when Miranda Castiglione hit a grand slam home run with two outs in the seventh inning.
Starting pitcher Ronnie Ladines went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run for the Golden Flashes (29-18). Maddy Grimm added a double in two hits.
Emily Dobbin (2-0) earned the victory in Game 2 with five scoreless innings of relief. She allowed three hits.
Ladines came on to pick up the save.
Michele Duffy had a pair of hits to help the Flashes outhit the Penguins 8-4.
