On the record: Kent State’s Reggie Jagers III places 7th in discus at NCAA Championships

Kent State’s Reggie Jagers III earned first-team All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the men’s discus at the 2016 NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., late Friday.

Jagers (Solon) — whose brother, Phil, from the University of the University of Akron, failed to qualify for the finals — recorded a throw of 195-5. The redshirt junior is first All-American in the men’s discus in Kent State history. He was an honorable mention All-American in 2013 and 2014.

Nebraska’s Nicholas Percy won the discus title at 201-0.

Akron sophomore Jaclyn Siefring was 12th in the women’s heptathlon, which ended Saturday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
