The No. 15 Kent State University women’s golf team was 12th after the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament Monday at the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
Pimnipa Panthong led the Golden Flashes with a 2-under 70, good for third place overall and two strokes off the lead. Panthong was consistent throughout the day, going without a bogey over the first 14 holes. She made up for her only bogey with a birdie at No. 18 to move up to third.
The Golden Flashes finished the day with a 17-over 305, and are looking to move up into the top six over the final 36 holes in order qualify for the NCAA National Championship.
