Kent State freshman Lane Hinkle won a 174-pound title Sunday during the Ohio Intercollegiate Open at Case Western Reserve’s Veale Field House. Nine other Golden Flashes placed in top seven spots.
Hinkle went 3-0 with a major decision and two technical falls. In the finals, he posted an 18-3 victory over Tony Dailey of Notre Dame College.
Also reaching the finals for the Flashes was Jerald Spohn, who placed second at 184. He went 3-1 with a pin and a major decision.
Women’s basketball
Brooklyn Wooten’s double-double wasn’t enough as the Walsh University women’s basketball team lost at the University of Indianapolis Sunday, 57-56.
