The Kent State women’s basketball team seized control from the tip and dominated from start to finish en route to its sixth consecutive victory, 78-51 over host Miami Wednesday night to clinch the Mid-American Conference East title.
The Golden Flashes led 18-9 after the first quarter and never looked back.
Larissa Lurken scored a game-high 24 points and had nine rebounds for Kent State (18-11, 12-5). Jordan Korinek added 20 points and 12 boards to complete a double-double.
Kent State outrebounded the RedHawks 44-27 and dished out 19 assists compared to eight for Miami (10-20, 4-13).
