On the record: Kent State women’s golf team qualifies for NCAA National Championship tournament

The No. 15 Kent State women’s golf team qualified for the NCAA National Championship with a sixth-place finish at the Lubbock Regional qualifier on Wednesday.

The Golden Flashes finished with an 11-over 875 and entered the final day of competition tied for sixth with UCLA. The Flashes recorded five birdies as a team over the final six holes to rally ahead of Oregon State to become the last of the six teams to qualify.

The National Championship will be held May 19-24 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Softball

Ronnie Ladines homered twice and pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on five hits, to lead Kent State to a 9-3 win over Western Michigan in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
