Kent State, the Mid-American Conference East Division champion, won its seventh consecutive game, beating visiting Buffalo (20-9, 10-8) 80-71 on Saturday. KSU’s win and a Northern Illinois loss, gave the Golden Flashes (19-11, 13-5) the No. 3 seed at this week’s MAC Tournament. The Flashes will play the winner of Toledo and the University of Akron in the late quarterfinal game Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena.
Larissa Lurken was 15-for-15 from the line and finished with 32 points and 13 rebounds for KSU. McKenna Stephens (Lake) also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
