On the record: Kent State track and field athletes Cayla Carey, Aspen Gaita win events at Day 1 of Golden Flashes Gala

The Kent State University men’s and women’s track and field team began the 2015-16 season with a successful first day at the Golden Flashes Gala in Kent on Friday.

Cayla Carey placed first in the women’s long jump and Aspen Gaita finished in first in the pentathlon to lead the KSU women.

Morgan Bing finished in second in the 5000 meters, Morgan Estes placed second in the pole vault and Chelsea Laury finished in second in the pentathlon for the Flashes.

Freshman T.J. Lawson is currently in second place after the first day of the men’s heptathlon to lead the Kent State men.
