With Kent State’s 2-1 softball win Sunday over previously unbeaten South Carolina Upstate, the Golden Flashes improved to 9-1.
The win in Spartanburg, S.C., allowed KSU to match its best 10-game softball start going back to the 1990 team that went to the NCAA Women’s College World Series.
Erika Warren hit a two-run home run in the top of the second inning to account for KSU’s runs. Ronnie Ladines improved to 6-0. She gave up a first-inning run to the Spartans (6-1), but kept them in check on five hits, no walks and six strikeouts.
